I work for for AOL.... here's how the free AOL works... AOL is free for anybody who already has another ISP connection, including dial-up. If you have a high speed connection, it's free because you are not dialing into AOL's servers.... As far as dial up goes, the trick to that is that you must have another dial up connection and connect to aol through TCP/IP. AOL's dial up service is still charged.

I thought it was the other way around? Dialup still pays for access but Broadband is free. I know working for comcast that aol is still going to charge for broadband if its powered by Comcast or say Verizon DSL.
They will also be charging if you want to use what they refer to as PREMIUM services like there security suit.

Just got a notice that THOUSANDS of AOL employees are being terminated? Is your job safe I hope?

We have no news yet.... We get a lot of fact and rumor mixed around... but corporate has said nothing about a termination yet.... so as of right now we are safe... thanks for your concern though, i appriciate that (because I'll be back here crying when I get laid off, lol)

If you get broadband through an AOL company like Time Warner, the price will still be the same... but if you are on like say a verizon or comcast bundle you only pay for the HSI provider service, the AOL isn't charged. The premium services as well will still be billed accordingly.
